Reeflex Winter 2012 has arrived!

The brand new Winter 2012 Reeflex Wetsuit range has arrived in Emerald, just in time for the start of the winter chills, and the suits look epic!

Also, watch out for 'The Mayor Of The Box" Ryan Hardy in the upcoming IBA Box Pro event, due to start this week. Ryan will be trying to hold off a;l the contenders in a bid to defend his Box Pro Champion title this year when the tour rolls in to his home town of Margaret River WA. All the action can be seen on www.ibaworldtour.com/live. Make sure you get on there as the Box delivers plenty of high flying acrobatics and some heavy barrels and beatdowns!!

Jared Houston Hawaii 2012

Jared Houston has had yet another bumper season in Hawaii this year. Turbo has just released a clip of his crazy high flying antics this year on the rock. Check it out! So the waves have been super fun around here lately, and good mate of Emerald - Brad Gilles has been making the most of it. Check out his clip below of some of the GoPro action he's been getting.

Summer's Over!!

After what can only be described as a below average summer swell-wise, Autumn has opened with a BANG!!! the first East Coast Low of the season has absolutely produced the goods, with reports coming in thick and fast of all the places up and down the coast that were firing late last week. Cronulla was no different, with Thursday arvo, Friday and Saturday pumping out solid clean lines out of the south-east.

It wasn't just the Island that was pumping around the Cronulla region, with a whole media frenzy descending upon Kurnell on Thursday arvo when Kelly Slater hit one of the lesser known waves at Kurnell, the pic above of Ross is the same day, at the same wave. It was good to see surfers and bodyboarders being able to co-exist out there for a change! (Apologies about the quality, its a framegrab!)

Below is a clip that budding young filmer Nathan "Natedawg" Anderson has put together from Friday and Saturday's sessions out the Island. As the end of the clip states, there will be plenty more to come out of this first proper swell of the season, so stay tuned!!!

Young team rider Dane Woods has been spending plenty of time in the water of late, and has sent through a few shots of his efforts. He's a funny little fella, as can be seen by the head hes pulling in the barrel in one of the pics.

Fun Summer Zones!

Strachan joins Reeflex!!

Local super grom and Emerald team rider Sam Strachan has recently joined forces with Reeflex Wetsuits to keep him warm in the salt for his assault on 2012.

Lester at Northies!!!

In bodyboarding the name Andrew Lester speaks for itself. To look at his list of successes over his nineteen year career gives you an idea of Lester's athletic ability:

To hear the respect he has amongst other riders confirms his exceptional ability even more.
After four years away from international competition, Andrew has qualified for the 2012 IBA World Tour. Not only have Andrew's triumphs solidified his place as a great sporting hero in the eyes of every bodyboarder on the planet, but now it will be recognized by Northies. On Monday February 6th at 6.30pm, Northies in Cronulla will be presenting a night in recognition of what a fantastic sportsman Lester truly is. There will be a screening of the IBA international's Mexico round, followed by the unveiling of Lester as a new inductee to the Northies Wall of Fame. Andrew Lester will be immortalized on what is now an award winning Wall of Fame for the Sutherland shires local sports stars. He will join the likes of Mark Occhilupo, Andrew Ettingshausen, and Johhny Raper to name a few.
It is a massive achievement for a bodyboarder to receive such recognition with so many other high profile sports to compete with. So to all the bodyboarders out there, let's get to Northies on Monday the 6th and celebrate.

Mark Watts

This clip of team rider Mark Watts has been around for a few weeks now, but is definitely worth a watch again! Edited by Spencer Frost, it showcases Mark's season in Hawaii 2010/11. Mark is there again as we speak, looking to improve on his efforts from last season. For a little man, he has some big wheels on him!! Well done Wattsy!
