Local photog grom Sam Venn has been a busy boy this year, shooting all the action in and around Cronulla, and to celebrate the end of the year, he has made a quick clip of his favorite shots of 2011. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we did!!!
As the title would suggest, we have a few clips to share with you today, that really should be watched by all of you who bodyboard!
First up, we have Emerald team rider Mark McCarthy shredding it up in Mexico. This was from around the time that the Zicatela Pro was on. Mark made the most of his time in the warm waters of Mexico, and put on a great show for anyone who happened to be watching his surfing. Check the
air rev he pulls at about the 3:15 min mark!! Hectic!
Next up we have the amp-up clip from last year's El Fronton event, which has a few waves of Jared Houston thrown in there. Definitely a good clip to check out leading up to tonight's round 2 action in the Fronton comp!
Last but definitely not least, we have the last "Sponsor Me" clip that Joel Taylor made before breaking his back out Pipeline in 2001. For those of you who don't know who Joel is, he is now recognised as the man behind Unite Clothing, but before his injury, Joel was up there on the level of Hardy, BP, Kingy and those guys. If you can get your hands on a copy of Superstars 2, watch the bonus section of Hardy and Joel out North Point, to see Joel showing Hardy how its done, at one of Hardy's home breaks!
Emerald team rider Glen Sullivan has scored his first magazine cover! This shot, from one of the many high quality swells to hit the East Coast this winter, was a day where the Island was not particularly surfable, so a few of the boys went in search elsewhere for some quality waves. This spot was big and quite sketchy, with plenty of backwash coming off the rocks. Some serious backwash and a solid wave can result in some pretty crazy imagery, as you can see from the cover!
Surge Magazine is an online mag, originating from Hawaii. Keep an eye out for the new issue to be released very soon, with this shot of Sully gracing the cover! Check out surgebodyboarding.com for a high quality online mag!!
Well done to Sully, as well as photographer Steve Jones, who also scored his first cover shot with this photo, and Diarmid Heidenreich for towing Sully in to this beast!
